Horse breeding is basically a human directed process of reproduction in horses using a concept of matching form into function to bring about a new appearance and enhance the performance of a new breed.

In selective horse breeding, a planned mating is used to produce specifically desired characteristics and traits in tamed horses. It is also a process used by most breeders to improve performance prowess of race horses, particularly so for bloodlines in each breed that excel in their specific tasks.

If you have room, you can improvise by burying a perforated garbage can in a spot well away from your vegetable garden and where you wont fall into it!

Nutrition is the most important factor in your pets health. Skimping in this area can potentially cost you a fortune in vets bills. Advantages:

Breeding produces dogs bred for certain tasks. Whilst its true that mongrels can become working dogs, purebreeds bred for purpose are still mostly the order of the day for assistance dogs, rescue dogs, sniffer dogs, police dogs, etc etc.

If all we had were badly bred BYB mutts then there would be a lot more dogs out there with serious temperament and health issues.

Disadvantages:

Breeding is breeding. And even if you're doing everything that you are supposed to you are still adding more dogs to a world where thousands die in shelters every day.

People will disagree with me here and tell me I've been watching "too much TV" but the fact of the matter is that breeding exaggerated dogs such as bulldogs could be considered inhumane due to the health problems involved. People can argue all they like but I can't see how breeding like the likes of pugs and shar peis and other dogs with exaggerated features is good for them, no matter how much research and planning goes into bloodline.
