Talk to your vet. YOu aren't prepared. Infact have her deliver at the vets office. Its safer that way

This kind of advice you need from the vet. Not amateurs on the internet we aren't vets

Honestly, there is WAY too much info to be explained on the internet. You need to call your veterinarian ASAP and talk to them, and see if they can connect you with a breeder to help you out. You will need to take notes, and be able to actively ask questions.

I agree with the others … talk to your vet.

Vet, vet, vet. Should have been there by now anyway – you need to get an ultrasound or x-ray to check on number and size of pups. If you don’t, you go into this blind and ANYTHING can happen. Including the death of the dog. So bring her in, get an x-ray or ultrasound, and talk to the vet. You may just want to schedule a c-section so you don’t HAVE to worry about it.

    you need to be researching…
but since shes already pregnant and nothing can be done at this point..
    Things to watch out for:
You need to start taking her temperature every morning and evening. Once below about 99 she will be going into labor within 24 hours. You need to have a warm spot with blankets and a place to lay while having pups (aka a whelping box) NO slippery surfaces (can cause swimmer pups if left on slick surface)
Then…once she is in labor and having pups…she should go NO LONGER than 3 hours with no activity. (not pushing, no pups, no activity) if this happens you needto get her to a vet..ASAP.
A puppy stuck means risking the life of the mother and the pup..
Most of all you need to keep her area warm with either a heatlamp(CAREFULLY PLACED OUT OF REACH!) or space heater a few feet away from the box/area..
And besdes all that you definately need to go do some research in these next few days..she only has a few more to go so read up//

Here is a VERY good website…

    http://www.debbiejensen.com/

she’ll tell you all about birthing shih tzus.
    good luck!

Talk to your vet. People here are not the people to talk to. After the dog has the pups, please get her spayed so you don’t contribute to the over population of dogs. Your Sister needs to get her dog neutered as well.

Her tempature will drop before she has any puppies, that’s how you know she’s close to having them. Make sure you have a nice small spot, like a closet or something for her to lay in before she goes into labor. She needs to be as comfortable as possible. She should break the sack on each puppy, if she doesn’t, either you should do it or the pup won’t make it. Hopefully you have a good enough bond with her that she won’t mind the help from you. You might also have to help the puppies get on her titties and make sure they start sucking. She will handel most of it herself. Just a heads up, sometimes a pup might be dead when it is born, the mother will try to eat the pup…this is normal for dogs. If the mother doesn’t feel like the pup is strong enough to make it, she takes matters into her own paws.

now is the time to set up a place in the most quit place in the house for her comfortablybly give birth.you nesomethinging likechildren’sens swimming pool, line the bottom of the pool with old blankets and towel so its comfortable.put her in it so she knows were it is and what it is aencourageage her to sleep there so she gets used to it and hopefully she will get in the pool when she starts to go into labor.when she goes into labor try to stay calm and keep her calm by just petting her and keep her relaxed.try to find a vet that can be there for you when ever5 you might need him or her some people haveterinariansian emergency rooms that are open 24/7.if you have any concerns just call that vets office
